Press Release
AboveNet expands its high-bandwidth network within Slough AboveNet Communications UK Ltd., a provider of high-bandwidth connectivity solutions to business and carriers, continues its investment programme with the announcement that it will extend its fibre network within Slough, adding links to the Equinix LD5 International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centre, due to open in Q1 2010. AboveNet has alsoupgraded its existing links to the Equinix LD4 IBX® centre, enabling it to offer lower latency, higher bandwidth connectivity to Equinix’s existing Slough-based customers. The evolution of London data centres, driven by a tremendous demand for space and power has seen demand exceed availability in the Docklands area. With the additional requirement for geographical separation of enterprise buildings from backup facilities, expansion has moved through the City, West London, Heathrow and now to more outlying areas including Slough. AboveNet has focused on a strategy of connecting its network to all key data centres in and around London. With its high capacity, highly reliable and scalable offerings, Abovenet is ideally positioned to provide business and carriers with short lead time delivery of services that suit all customer groups. John Donaldson, Managing Director at AboveNet, commented, “This investment is part of our ongoing strategy to connect and increase capacity to key data centres, and to continue to invest for our customers, even in hard economic times. It is further evidence of our commitment to ensure that high performance network continues to provide the fastest, most reliable and direct routes between all key data centres and customer locations.” “With our increased footprint in Slough, companies can connect to the AboveNet network and enjoy an extensive choice of data centre connectivity that is sure to suit their varying space, power and security needs,” concluded Donaldson.
