Press ReleaseAboveNet Helps Customers Get Connected at Switch and Data’s New North Bergen, NJ Data Center Wednesday November 19, 8:05 am ET TAMPA, Fla. - (Business Wire) Switch and Data (NASDAQ: SDXC), a leading provider of network neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, announced today that AboveNet, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: ABVT), a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, is offering a full suite of high bandwidth Ethernet, IP and fiber data transport services to customers in Switch and Data’s new North Bergen, NJ data center. AboveNet is able to provide solutions to Switch and Data’s customers that range from simple IP transit and Ethernet metro connectivity, to a high bandwidth, low latency solution that connects a customer’s North Bergen expansion to its existing infrastructure, to create a seamless, virtual data center spanning multiple locations. AboveNet’s private, metropolitan fiber network enables its customers to solve critical issues, including cost containment, security and reliability. AboveNet provides private secure communications with virtually unlimited capacity and flexibility at competitive rates. Its private optical network delivers key network and IP services in and among 14 top U.S. metro markets and London. AboveNet offers metro access networks (MAN), wide area networks (WAN), and managed services including WDM wavelength services, metro Ethernet, WAN Ethernet, and IP transit in Switch and Data’s North Bergen site. "Our investments in key markets like the New York metro region continue to support our customers' increasing need for data center space and interconnection services to aggregate and distribute global IP based content and applications,” explained Ernie Sampera, Senior VP of Marketing, Switch and Data. “We are pleased that AboveNet has invested to deploy high performance fiber connectivity solutions in more than a dozen of our data centers, most recently in our new North Bergen, NJ site.” The New York metro region has experienced high customer demand for data center and Internet exchange services. Many existing facilities have limited space or power available to support customer growth. AboveNet has invested heavily in fiber optic connectivity in and between data center facilities to support its customers’ IT virtualization plans. These services allow a company to deploy infrastructure at a new high-capacity site, like Switch and Data’s 163,000 gross square foot North Bergen site, and connect it back to existing facilities to create one virtual infrastructure, with the space and power to support IT infrastructure growth. MaryBeth Nance, Executive Director of Business Development and Marketing of AboveNet said, “AboveNet is pleased to offer high bandwidth solutions to expanding businesses in Switch and Data’s latest New York/New Jersey metro site. We support the role our customers play in this premier U.S. commercial center, one that is an important aggregation and distribution center for information that powers some of the world’s most demanding customers, those in the financial services industry.” Switch and Data’s North Bergen site has been built to the company’s high-performance data center standard and can supply more than 200 watts per square foot of power and cooling capacity. At full completion, the site will be supplied with more than 26 megawatts of power with full N+1 redundancy for its UPS, generator and cooling infrastructure. Switch and Data also offers its PAIX® Internet exchange service in the North Bergen site. PAIX pioneered commercial Internet exchange and provides a simple and cost effective way for Internet service providers (ISPs), telecommunications companies, and enterprises to peer their IP traffic to enhance performance and reduce cost.
