AboveNet’s 10Gbps Ethernet Services First To Be Certified To MEF Standards

New York. – October 21, 2008 PRNewswire -- AboveNet, Inc., (OTC Bulletin Board: ABVT), a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, has attained Metro Ethernet Forums’ MEF 9 and 14 certifications for 10Gigabit Ethernet Private Line (EPL), Metro Area Network (MAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) services.

This certification is significant industry recognition that AboveNet has met the rigorous standards for high bandwidth services. With this testing process now completed AboveNet becomes the world’s first provider to be certified for its 10Gigabit Ethernet services, under the MEF endorsed process.

Nan Chen, President of the Metro Ethernet Forum said,” this certification shows that Carrier Ethernet can provide fully compliant services at high speeds, now reaching 10Gbps.” The program was conducted by Iometrix, the networking industry's preeminent testing authority and officially endorsed MEF certification lab.

The thorough testing and review for MEF certification has established a solid foundation for Carrier Ethernet ubiquity & interoperability, with the goal of helping Enterprises and Carriers benefit from the increased bandwidth of 10GbE services.
