Successful Metro Ethernet Summer Promo Expanded to Include Off-Net Locations NEW YORK, June 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AboveNet, Inc., a leading provider of fiber optic connectivity solutions, announced that, due to favorable marketplace reception, it will expand its current Metro Ethernet solutions promotion. This promotion, which includes up to three contract months free with Metro Ethernet, Metro IP or WDM solutions, encourages high bandwidth users to get on-net by connecting to the AboveNet network. Within certain distance limits, charges will be waived to connect off-net buildings to the AboveNet network. Customers can meet their high bandwidth, reliability needs by choosing from a complete suite of complementary AboveNet products and services. Customers can have low latency, high bandwidth connectivity solutions installed cost-effectively. This suite of point-to-point Ethernet offerings can be implemented at 100MB, full 1 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit speeds. The promotion is available in 12 U.S. metro markets, not including New York or New Jersey. The promotion offers enterprises a low-risk way to benefit from employing fiber optic connectivity solutions, while working with a premier provider. Now more customers can take advantage of a scalable, fiber-based network infrastructure focused on the needs of high bandwidth users, without traditional CO-based architecture, which can degrade latency performance. Customers can leverage these features across AboveNet's significant, major-metro fiber footprint. "The favorable reaction to this promotion has encouraged us to expand the offer to include off-net building locations. I believe there is no better investment that AboveNet can make than to bring new high bandwidth customers onto our world-class private network. Extending our network to connect off-net locations is a win-win situation, for us and our customer, allowing us to offer our broad array of high bandwidth Ethernet solutions to more locations. This promotion can also help customers accelerate their migration to next generation Ethernet solutions," said Bill LaPerch, AboveNet President and CEO.
