William G. LaPerch,
President and Chief Executive Officer
Bill LaPerch is the President and Chief Executive Officer for AboveNet, Inc. as well as member of the Board of Directors. A telecommunications industry veteran with more than 20 years experience, he is responsible for guiding AboveNet out of chapter 11 to a recognized leader in providing optical connectivity solutions for business. Under Mr. LaPerch’s leadership, AboveNet has transformed itself into a leading provider of high bandwidth private solutions for Fortune 1000 companies in the US and London. This effort included sale of non-strategic assets and focused investments in customer related network opportunities.
Prior to joining AboveNet, Mr. LaPerch served as Vice President of Network Services for MCI where he managed that company’s local, long distance, data and Internet networks. Previously, Mr. LaPerch held executive positions at NYNEX.
Mr. LaPerch is a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a B.S. in Engineering. He received his M.B.A. from Columbia University.
Robert Sokota,
Sr. Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer
Mr. Sokota is the Sr. Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer, overseeing and advising on all of the company’s legal and contractual issues and negotiations. He has been with the company since January 2000.
Prior to joining AboveNet, Mr. Sokota was Vice President of the legal department for Metromedia International Telecommunications, Inc. He also worked as an associate with the firm Steptoe & Johnson in Washington, D.C. from 1989 to 1994.
Mr. Sokota holds a J.D. from the University of Chicago. He also holds a B.A. from George Washington University.
John “Joc” Jacquay,
Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing
John “Joc” Jacquay (pronounced Jackway) is Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing for AboveNet, Inc. With more than 30 years of industry experience, Mr. Jacquay is responsible for growing AboveNet’s expanding portfolio of products and services built upon the Company’s premier fiber optic metro network.
Prior to joining AboveNet, Mr. Jacquay was the President of Business Markets at XO Communications. In this role, Mr. Jacquay, a 30-year veteran of the telecommunications industry, was responsible for growing XO’s $1.3 billion revenue stream. Mr. Jacquay also spent five years as CEO at several start ups in the world of emerging data and Internet technologies and held various sales and P&L leadership positions at MCI during its growth stages from the early 80’s through 1996. He started his telecommunications career at GTE Corporation as an econometrician and Controller.
Mr. Jacquay holds undergraduate degrees in Finance and Accounting, as well as an MSBA in Economics from Indiana University.
Rajiv Datta,
Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer
Rajiv Datta joined AboveNet in 1998 and has served in a number of significant technical and engineering positions at the company. In his current role as CTO, Mr. Datta oversees all aspects of Engineering, IT and Product Development activities across AboveNet’s metro, long haul and IP networks. Mr. Datta is currently focused on implementing core network technology upgrades that will facilitate innovative products and services.
Prior to joining AboveNet, Mr. Datta held various engineering & development positions at Alcatel Telecommunications Cable in North Carolina and at Alcatel’s Optical Fiber Competency Center near Paris, France.
Mr. Datta holds a BS and MS degree in Engineering from Rutgers University, NJ and is a member of Tau Beta Pi, the National Engineering Honors Society
Douglas M. Jendras,
Senior Vice President of Operations
Doug Jendras is Senior Vice President of Operations overseeing AboveNet’s metro fiber and long haul networks, network management center and real estate portfolio. Before assuming his current role, Mr. Jendras also held executive positions in Business Development and Finance.
Prior to joining AboveNet, Doug held management positions at MCI Telecommunications where he worked in Operations and Business Development.
He earned his bachelors degree from the State University of New York at Albany and his M.B.A. in financial management from Pace University.
